Late last year I filmed my first newborn documentary which is a candid look at a family with a newborn baby. I filmed it in colour and then converted a copy file to black and white for a more 'documentary' classic style look using licensed piano music for the background track. The family were rapt with the results. Visit http://www.purdiephotography.com/newborndocumentaries.html on my website. Here is the video below.

Kittens are Growing Up
Our little kittens are growing up fast and are now 5 weeks old. Their fur is growing longer and their personalities emerging. They are all toilet trained I'm pleased to say after a false start eating the kitty litter. I switched to a natural paper product and it worked successfully. We are really enjoying having them around. Here's a few photos I took last week of them on our grass outside:

Fluffy Has 6 Kittens
Before I was born my parents found a stray grey Persian cat in the gutter and since they could never find the owner, they took him home and cared for him. They named him Fluffy. He was soon joined a few years later by Skippy the Ginger Tom cat when our neighbour's cat had kittens. My brother and I grew up with Fluffy and Skippy from the age of 2. They were both lovely animals and lived to a ripe old age. I was 12 when I got Tabitha the Tabby Cat which was followed by a stray that came to live with us called Kitty. Tiger was another stray that came to live with us once I was married with three children, followed by Phoenix and her son Rusty and Gracie. So I've always had cats but never the opportunity to have kittens.
When we got given a grey Persian who we ended up calling Fluffy last year (no other name would stick so Fluffy it was), we decided to let her have one lot of kittens. We had her mated with a Himalayan Blue Ragdoll named Mojo. He's a gorgeous boy. They spent two lovely days together licking each other but it turned out Mojo didn't have his Mojo on. I thought maybe there was a problem with Fluffy so we just let her out as usual when she was on heat just to see what would happen.
After a short break away at Christmas time, we came back and noticed Fluffy had become very large around the tummy. Yayy kittens. We knew it was Aloe Blac (we named him after the African American singer guy) the black cat that came calling one afternoon. I'm not sure how far he traveled to be with Fluffy but he seemed to know what he was doing and nailed it in one 'go'.
This morning at 3am my daughter (14) woke me in bed. She said, "Fluffy's had a kitten on my floor". It appeared that Fluffy had her first kitten on the carpet next to the bed and then jumped up into bed with my daughter and woke her up. Then the kitten meowed and my daughter heard it and so did Fluffy. Fluffy jumped down onto the carpet and picked up the kitten and put it on the bed. Then over the next few hours she had another 5. My daughter left her in peace and went to sleep on the couch since it's a school day.
Over the next few hours Fluffy had three black kittens and three grey ones. They are very cute. We managed to move her off the bedcovers which we had to throw away and into a nesting box so she's now nice and dry and comfortable.
A few pics are below and some are pretty graphic.
The kitten on the right was born second to last and the black one on the left was last. I saw it being born. Fluffy got up and moved away from them both and I had to guide them gently using my hands with tissues so they could find Fluffy again.

A Classic MG Car
I got up the other morning at 4.15am to photograph a car for my son's friend's Dad who owns it. It's a lovely white classic MG in pristine condition.

Wear n Him T Shirt Range
The other day I did a photo shoot in my studio for a lovely couple of sister's who have launched their own line of very special inspired t shirts. They are Aussie made and environmentally sustainable. Krystal and Tegan can be contacted below if you are interested in seeing their designs or making a purchase. There are men's, women's and child's designs in the collection. They left a t shirt for me to keep and it was so comfortable when I wore it the next day. It's my new favourite t shirt.
